Melissa Rubin has been a learning specialist for more than 15 years. In October of 2010, Melissa and Marjorie Albin established The Student First, LLC, dedicated to collaborating with families, teachers, and support service professionals to help students maximize their learning potential.

After finishing her undergraduate work at Princeton University, Melissa spent a year internship at The Park School, in Brookline, MA. From there, she went on to earn her masters in Special Education from Boston University, and completed all coursework associated with the Transitional Bilingual and Elementary Education degrees. Since then, Melissa has worked at the Applewild School in Fitchburg, MA as the Director of Academic Support Services, and Milton Academy, as an academic skills specialist and teacher in the middle and high school. From 2005-2008, Melissa served as the Director of Curriculum at The Steppingstone Foundation, an educational non-profit organization. Most recently, she was the Director of Student Support Services at The Meadowbrook School in Weston, MA.

Melissa is a member of the Pi Lambda Theta and Phi Delta Kappa Honor Societies and serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Northeast Association of Learning Specialists.
